THE AWARD FOR THE BEST BALLET PRODUCTION GOES TO PILSEN

The ninth year of the competitive showcase of contemporary dance production BALET 2019 was dominated by the J. K. Tyl Theatre in Pilsen with the production The Taming of the Shrew choreographed by Alena Pešková. In addition to the main prize, an honourable mention goes to Jan Kučera for his original ballet composition and the prize for soloist performance to Gaëtan Pires. The Prague Chamber Ballet was also successful with its production of Bouquet: the prize for the best choreography goes to Petr Zuska, for the artistic design to Jan Dušek and for the new ballet composition to Ondřej Brousek. The prize for the best collective performance goes to Ostrava.

The award ceremony of the BALET 2019 showcase with the presentation of diplomas and prizes will take place on the occasion of the performance of the winning production The Taming of the Shrew on 19 April 2019 at 7 pm at the Estates Theatre.
