Alena Pešková - dancer, choreographer

In 1994 she graduated from the Dance Conservatory in Prague. Her choreography Time in Motion was performed at the Estates Theatre as part of her graduation performance. After one season at the Musical Theatre in Karlín, she worked at the J.K.Tyl Theatre in Pilsen. Since 1999 she has been working as an independent dancer and choreographer. She has toured abroad (Europe, Japan, South America) and continues to work with the J.K.She prepares choreographies for operas ( Ariadne auf Naxos, The Tale of the Vixen, Lucerna...) and musicals ( A Clockwork Orange, Juno and Avos, Rockquiem ), festivals, fashion shows and openings - where she dances herself. In 1998, her performance Schism premiered. In 2001, her choreography Clara... (music: R. Schumann) was awarded the prize for the best participant at a choreographic showcase. In 2003 she was included in the wider nomination for the Thalia Award for the title role in the ballet The Lady with Camellias. In 2004 she choreographed the ballet Bed of Blood (music by Jan P. Muchow) for the Prague State Opera Ballet, and in 2006 she choreographed the full-length ballet The Garden (music by Z. Matějů) for the J.K. Tyl Theatre Ballet. In 2009, the dance drama Marysa, again for the ballet company of the J. K. Tyl Theatre in Pilsen, and the dance theatre Café Aussig for the ballet company of the Sveročesky Opera and Ballet Theatre, both this time to their own libretto and directed by themselves. She is the founder of an independent association of professional dancers called Ultra-minimal-ballet (UMB), which had its debut in 2008 in the premises of the Blues Cellar (5 m2 - music by P. Wajsar, Jessie and Morgiana - music by G. Vermelho).Since September 2010 she has been choreographer and head of the DFXŠ ballet in Liberec. www.saldovo-divadlo.cz.
