At the moment when Linda Svidró, the artistic director of PKB, approached me to choreograph one of Dvořák's quartets in the interpretation of the Zemlinsky Quartet, I had been considering the possibility of a dance adaptation of Karolína Světlé's novel The Cross by the Brook for some time. Then, when I played one of the quartets on offer (in D minor), specific images and sometimes even choreographies emerged before me as if everything had been finished long ago...
